June 1, 2009
It's hard for me to believe it's June already. As the year end approaches I'm aware all over again of my gratitude and appreciation for colleagues. First, thanks to the newly elected MRFA committee members and designates and GFC candidates for being willing to do the important work of Mount Royal and the Association. Thanks also to the outgoing and continuing committee members for all your recent work. In a time of such wholesale transformation, there really has been an overwhelming collegial effort to create an exceptional postsecondary institution. (Can't wait for the chance to stop using euphemisms - or should it be U-phemisms?) I'd also like to thank the MRFA staff and Executive for a wonderful Appreciation BBQ last week. But more importantly I'm grateful for the very productive year we've had in the midst of complicated circumstances. With the Special Meeting next week to hear the results of negotiations, I'm also grateful for the consistently hard and thougthtful work of our Negotiating Committee last year and this.
Finally, congratulations to this year's faculty award winners: Irene Naested, Dianne Woods, Doug McClintock and Tamara Wickwire for the Distinguished Faculty Teaching Awards; Mardy Roberts for the MRFA's Distinguished Service Award; John Winterdyk for the Distinguished Faculty Scholarship Award; and the faculty members of the Turn Off the Violence group for the Effective Team Award.
May you and yours have a restful, happy and safe summer.
Dr. David Hyttenrauch
President
