Introduction to Conflict Resolution
CRN 31052
Begin to develop a personal philosophy for conflict resolution as you explore the benefits of mediation and negotiation in a variety of settings. Assess your ability to communicate effectively and discover your personal style of handling conflict. Recognize the importance of separating the people from the problem and begin to apply conflict management processes.
This course is the prerequisite in the Managing Conflict in Today's Workplace Certificate of Completion program (see below for program description). The other courses will be offered in upcoming semesters.
Fridays, February 3 & 10; 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. (attend both days)

Important notes!
· Some material for the course will be made available to students via email before the course begins. Students are responsible to print off the material and bring to class. Texts and other materials will be provided in class.
· There is no cost for MRU employees to attend this course.
·
· Please obtain your supervisor's consent prior to registering. Note that you must attend and complete the courses in which you register. There are limited seats available in this popular certificate program. We have waitlists of employees wanting to complete the program.

· If after you register you cannot attend, we request that you withdraw at least two weeks prior to the start of the session to assist us in placing from waitlists, organizing the materials and managing our costs effectively.

Managing Conflict in Today's Workplace Certificate of Completion
Incorporating conflict resolution skills into business processes can be crucial to an organization's short-term health and long-term success. Conflict resolution techniques are quick, inexpensive and low-risk compared to the alternatives - lower productivity, loss of business relationships or going to court. This online program introduces the concepts, skills and strategies of conflict resolution processes as they are used within today's diverse workplace. The benefits to a business of using conflict resolution and negotiation techniques include improved employee morale and productivity.
To receive your certificate of completion complete the three required courses (45 hours). Requirements: Introduction to Conflict Resolution is the prerequisite for the other two courses in the program, Negotiating with Integrity and Dealing with Difficult Conversations.
